IN AND AROUND NADI
Nadi Town
Just 9 kilometers from Nadi International Airport. Nadi is a one street town. Shopping includes international designer brand goods, local and imported handicrafts, a wide range of beach, sports and island style clothes as well as the usual range of cameras, watches, jewellery, electronic goods and gift selections. There is a choice of Indian, Chinese, Japanese and international style restaurants. Part of interest includes the colourful marketplace which is one block off the main street and the South Indian Hindu temple at the southern end of Nadi town. Built by craftsman from India, the Hindu temple is the most imposing in Fiji.

Momi Bay Gun Site
About 16 kilometers from Nadi town and 8 kilometers from the main road is the gun emplacement established to repel a Japanese invasion during World War II. The Japanese never got here. Had they done so towards the later part of the war, the guns would have been ineffective as radar would have allowed the ships to avoid being hit. The National Trust for Fiji maintains the site and employs an attendant who is only too happy to give a history of the defence complex.
Natadola Beach
There is more than a mile of beautiful white sandy beach curling in a half moon around a bay of the softest green and turquoise pastel colours. There is a small resort with restaurant and bar, a shell and handicraft market on the beach and horses for hire for a short ride.
Garden of the Sleeping Giant
It is 4 kilometers north of Nadi Airport to the turn off at Wailoko Road and 2 kilometers along Wailoko Road to the garden. A magnificent collection of orchids in a stunning 50 acre setting of shade houses, boardwalks through native bush and a lily pond. The garden was started by the American actor, the late Raymond Burr more than 20 years ago. Guides are available at no extra cost, to conduct you through the grounds should you wish an informative tour. Rest places, with rustic benches, offer a time for quiet contemplation of the Paradise lost and the Eden regained in this little corner of Fiji. The garden is listed as one of the best of it's kind in the world.
